Importance of Haldi celebration for Bride and Groom

The Haldi ceremony has a rich history of spiritual and cultural symbolism.  It is believed that applying turmeric paste on the bride and groom, which has antiseptic and purifying properties, purifies them spiritually and physically.  We take memorable pictures of the Haldi ceremony of both the bride and groom with our camera, which creates a special magic of happiness in both the families.

The bride and groom enjoying this Haldi ceremony with their friends and family.  Like music, dancing or applying turmeric all over the face etc., Candid Photography and Videography of all these is done.  This shows a different exciting and happiness, with his eyes mostly closed, the groom treats it like a game and lets his companions have fun while enjoying his Haldi to the fullest.

The People with "Crazy & Unforgiving" Friends & Family

It is natural that when the friends and family of the bride or groom attend the Haldi ceremony, they put all their art on their faces and at such times, we capture all the events with our cameras so that the atmosphere becomes more joyful. Applying turmeric on the skin and hair of the bride and groom and bathing them with water or using alcohol or some such substance is seen as a summary of enjoying a lot of fun.

We have seen this festival many times and we have seen something different and exciting every time.  As soon as it comes to turmeric, a different festive atmosphere prevails in both the families.  I got to see many more Haldi ceremonies than the excitement and joyous atmosphere we saw in Destination prewedding photography shoots. 

Traditionally when the bride and groom are bathed with milk after haldi, we have captured those exciting pictures with our camera which adds life to this ceremony.  But when it comes to friends, they take soda and alcohol with them or tear the groom's clothes and bathe him in a different way.  And in the bride's Haldi ceremony, the bride's friends pour a bucket full of turmeric from her head to her feet.

We have created a video of the bride and groom raising their hands with a bowl of turmeric, surrounded by their friends and family, to capture the joyous excitement of the Haldi ceremony.  In this scene we have captured all the laughter, joking, dancing and singing in one frame.  Each hand contributes to the collective work and on this collective effort the couple is showered with love and good wishes from people around them.
